Work-Study Program
TFA offers a needs-based work-study program that provides part-time jobs, usually with flexible hours, to students. It allows students, parents, and other family members to earn money to help pay for educational expenses at TFA. TFA maintains a list of jobs to be completed daily, weekly, monthly, and annually. Qualified applicants may select from the list of jobs and then work to pay down their cost of attending TFA. These jobs are available on a limited basis.
Any applicant negligent in fulfilling chosen task(s) in a satisfactory manner will be charged the full amount. Applicants must submit a written letter requesting assistance and offer a brief explanation of circumstances. Applicants are considered on a case-by-case basis and reviewed each grading period. Any student who receives a scholarship must maintain a 70% in each subject. A grade below 70% will automatically place a student on academic probation. At the end of 5 weeks, the scholarship will be revoked if the student fails to meet all expectations. Character and behavior will also be considered when awarding scholarships. All applicants must be approved by the Executive Director.

Payments
Paying the total annual cost (tuition and fees) up front entitles you to a 4% discount on the tuition amount. (The discount is applied to the total amount of tuition only, not to the fees.) Alternatively, you can pay the total annual cost (tuition and fees, including a $25 one-time installment fee per family) over a period of 10 months beginning August 1st and continuing through May 1st.
Payments are due on the 1st of each month. Payments not received by the 1st of each month or the first business day following a weekend will result in a $20 late fee being automatically added. If your account falls behind by 2 payments, enrollment will be suspended until payments are received. Registration for next year will not be allowed until all fees are paid in full. TFA does not allow progress reports, standardized test results, transcripts, or final grades to be released if your account is delinquent or any fees owed. If your account falls more than 60 days behind, your student will be asked to withdraw from all TFA classes and activities.

Tuition
Tuition is calculated at the rate of $7.50 per hour for grades K–12. For Pre-K the rate is $8.00 per hour.
TFA is in session 3 days a week (Tue, Wed, and Thu), 31 weeks per year; 15 weeks in the fall and 16 weeks in the spring. One week in the spring is dedicated to the standardized achievement test (Iowa Assessment), and it is mandatory for all K–10 students.
Core academic hours each day are from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM. This equates to 4.5 hours per day, or 13.5 hours per week.
Electives are offered from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM and from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM each school day. Students may enroll in any number of electives.
The hourly tuition rate applies to all hours that the students are under the purview of TFA, which includes a 30-minute lunch break per school day.
Fees
All academic fees are payable to TFA and are used solely for TFA staff, expenditures, supplies, and school. TFA reserves the right to increase fees as deemed necessary by the Board and Executive Director.
Admin Fee
We charge an administrative fee of $4.00 per school day, which equates to $372 for the year per student.
Lab Fee
Some classes, such as science and art, require a lab fee. If applicable to a selected course, the lab fee is a one-time $25.00 fee applied per student per year.
Assessment Fee
For K–10 students, a one-time fee for the standardized Iowa Assessment is charged per student per year. For K–2 students, the fee is $60.00. For 3–10 students, the fee is $50.00. No fee is charged for Pre-K and 11–12 students since they do not take the Iowa Assessment.
Installment Fee
A one-time fee of $25.00 is applied if paying by monthly installments. See Payments, below, for more information.
